The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) launched the eHuman Resource Management project recently, in their continuing efforts to empower the public sector.
The implementation of the project is centred around the Ministry of Public Administration and the Home Affairs Ministry.
Under this project, several internal activities of the Ministries of Public Administration and Home Affairs are facilitated through information and communication technology (ICT).
Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, and the Services of the Government Management Assistants, the Drivers, the Office Assistants, the Translators and the Librarians will be facilitated through the use of ICT.
More than 46,000 public sector employees in the above-mentioned categories will benefit as a result of this project. These benefits will include the speedy and proper execution of functions such as confirmations in service, promotions, transfers, disciplinary action and retirement.
The project was launched under the patronage of Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama at the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs.
Participating at the inauguration ceremony, Minister Amunugama said that ICT and Human Resource Management were closely linked with modern society and useful service could result in the implementation of this project. The Minister added that projects like this went a long way in ensuring that the maximum benefits of ICT will reach the people.
ICTA Chief Operating Officer, Reshan Dewapura said that Sri Lanka was moving fast in the ICT sector. He said that ICTA had made significant contributions in increasing the efficiency of the government sector, and will continue to do so in the future.
