22-Feb-2010

HSBC, having declared open its new branch at No. 145, Kankasanthurai Road, Jaffna on 11 February 2010, held a special handover ceremony at the Jaffna Public Library to donate computers to Sarvodaya-Fusion, the implementing partner of the bank's corporate sustainability initiative launched in 2009, in partnership with Microsoft.

The donation was made to Ravindra Ariyawickrema, Deputy Manager Sarvodaya-Fusion by Nick Nicolaou, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives, to help build IT capacity skills of the youth in the north and east, and make them more employable.

This was followed by the granting of the first 25 of 100 scholarships to youth in Jaffna, providing them the opportunity to follow courses in IT.
