Dialog expects to gain from Number Portability

Mobile telephone giant Dialog Telekom PLC announced yesterday that it expects to gain from the proposed implementation of the Mobile Number Portability (MNP).
Speaking at an Investor Forum, Dialog Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya said that the company was unlikely to lose from it as previously anticipated.

This year’s winning entry would stand a chance of being aired during the U.S Super bowl, also wining a ticket to Boston and a laptop filled with Open Source Software.

Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has received a World Bank grant to develop a regulatory framework for long-awaited Mobile Number Portability and its subsequent implementation.
Country’s telecom watchdog has invited Expression of Interests (EoI) from suitable companies seeking to provide ‘consultation services on recommendations and regulatory framework for Mobile Number Portability as per the official website of the TRCSL.

Sri Lanka Telecom Capex plummets amid price war

Operators and capital investment in Sri Lanka’s telecom infrastructure has plummeted amid a price war with high taxation threatening crimp expansion and broadband rollout on the island in the future, top telecom operators have said.
“Before the price war each operator was spending about 150 to 200 million (US dollars) a year in capital expenditure,” Head of Tigo Sri Lanka, Dumindra Ratnayake said at a forum held in Colombo by Lirne Asia, a regional policy research body.

The largest education fair of its kind in Sri Lanka, EDEX 2010-National Higher Education and Careers Expo will be held for the seventh consecutive year from 22nd to 24th January 2010 at BMICH and 26th and 27th January at Queens Hotel, Kandy.
