Amba Research emerges as the preferred vendor for Financial Services Analytics

Amba Research announced that it has been ranked amongst the top 3 investment research KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing) vendors in the annual Black Book of Outsourcing survey for 2009.

The survey covers areas such as trust, training, delivery excellence, scalability, data security, and many other areas that clients take into consideration when engaging with an outsourcing partner.

Amba Research training programme gets accreditation from CFA Institute

Amba Research is pleased to announce that it has entered into a partnership with the CFA Institute to participate in its Approved-Provider Programme. As a result, Amba Research’s 10-day Equity Investment Analyst Training Programme receives 40 Continuing Education credit hours as part of the CFA Approved-Provider Programme.

The CFA Institute awards the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is the leading professional qualification for investment research professionals.

The Institute selects these educational providers on a case-by-case basis through a rigorous screening mechanism. As such, this partnership recognises Amba’s 10-day Equity Investment Analyst Training Programme as a leading professional development training course. The programme is a practical, hands-on training programme designed to guide its participants through all the essential aspects of the entire equity research cycle, including industry attractiveness assessment, earnings forecast model-building, valuation, and presenting investment recommendations.

Amba sees increased interest from International clients

The current global economic crisis has had its most significant impact on the financial services sector, which has historically driven much of the growth in the outsourcing industry.

According to Sanjay Kulatunga, Director Amba Research, although this has resulted in some short-term impact on growth in the outsourcing industry, from which Amba Research has not been immune, the medium and longer-term outlook for the investment research outsourcing sector looks positive as outsourcing takes a more strategic position within the equity research and asset management industries.

CIMA global president visits Amba Research

CIMA Global President Glynn Lowth visited Amba Research Lanka’s offices last weekend and discussed different ways in which Amba could partner with CIMA.

Among the initiatives discussed were possible CIMA and Amba Research training programs conducted internationally and co-operation on outreach programs at local universities.

During his visit, Amba also showcased their Quantitative Services division, which has many individuals who uniquely combine accounting and engineering qualifications.

Amba Research launches CSR

Amba Research has launched a series of CSR activities to commemorate five years in operation.

In its biggest such project to date, in mid-October, Amba Research Lanka will supply computer hardware to a rural school in the Puttalam District to facilitate the inclusion of IT-based education in their curriculum. Earlier this year, Amba concluded a successful blood drive in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Red Cross and donated essential supplies to the Army Seva Vanitha unit. As part of an ongoing project, every year, Amba provides gifts and supplies to various orphanages across Sri Lanka.

Amba Research bags 6 golds at Colombo University convocation

Investment research outsourcing specialist, Amba Research Lanka (Private) Ltd., was in the spotlight at the recently concluded University of Colombo 2008 Convocation when four of its employees clinched gold medals namely Kushantha Perera – Best Student in Statistics and Best Final Year Project in Statistics; Sha Razeek – Best Student in Statistics with Computer Science; Anfas Hamza – Best Final Year Project in Statistics with Computer Science; and Ruwini Randeniya – Best Student in Physical Science and Best General Degree Student.
The four gold medalists were hired into Amba Research’s niche Quantitative Services group. The Quantitative Services group, which includes six PhDs, uses sophisticated statistical and mathematical techniques to help clients identify and test global multi-asset trading strategies and price complex derivative structures.
